Freelancing
For INDIANS
How to Generate Hot
Prospects For Freelancing Projects
This might seem a rather obvious comment to make, but it’s surprising how many
freelancers consider clients as something of an afterthought. A great deal of effort goes
into the mechanics of doing the job, but the people who actually pay the bills are often
overlooked.
Another common mistake is to assume that once you have a few clients, the need to
market your services is over. The theory is that if you are good, you will get so much
repeat business - and your fame will spread so rapidly - that you will never have to look
for work again.
Now repeat business and referrals are certainly important, as we will see later, but this is
only part of the story. If you want to be sure of a regular stream of work at premium
rates, you need to generate a steady flow of prospective buyers.
So where do you start? Nowadays, you have two clear options - marketing your services
online and offline. In practice, of course, you should be doing both. We’ll look at each of
these options, but let’s start with traditional marketing in the offline world.
The first step and most important step in planning your marketing campaign is targeting
your prospects.
you can reach your prospects:
• mail
• telephone
• advertising
